Is Echo Show 5 Worth It?
In this video post we review the Echo Show 5. Amazon’s latest Alexa device with a screen. The Echo Show 5 is a smaller version of the larger Echo Show with the same features and several notable updates.
The new Echo Show 5 is a full featured voice assistant with a 5.5” touch screen and video camera that supports two way video chat.
What I Like About The Echo Show 5
The Echo Show 5 has all of the built in Alexa capabilities that Echo devices are known for such as controlling your smart home with your voice, using Alexa as a voice assistant to get news updates, play music, check your schedule and set alarms. With the Echo Show 5 you can even watch Amazon Prime movies right on your Echo Show 5 by saying “Alexa, show my comedies on Amazon Prime Video.”
What sets the Echo Show 5 apart in my mind is that it’s relatively low price in comparison to other voice assistants with a screen, and it’s built in video chat and camera features. I also like it’s small form factor that makes it the perfect size for use as a replacement to a bedside alarm clock but with thousands more features than an old fashioned alarm clock.
I find that I use the video chat all the time and it allows me to work at my computer or take notes while still having a video conversation because I don’t need to hold the phone, because I can just set the Echo Show 5 on my desk and start talking to the person on the other end of the phone. Amazon also updated the Echo Show 5 with privacy in mind and included a built in hard cover switch that can be used to cover video camera and mute the microphone automatically. Just slide the internal cover over the built in camera and you can be assured that no one can spy through your Alexa device.
Summary: Is Echo Show 5 Worth It?
Yes, in my opinion you are getting a lot for your money in this small device and the Echo Show 5 is worth it. With it’s touch screen and video chat capabilities along with all of the smart features alexa devices are known for this is a great addition to any smart home. With the exception of larger speakers it has all of the same features as the more expensive Echo Show in a scaled down size. This makes a great gift or replacement for your old alarm clock.
